The short version

This site doesn't ask for your personal information, and it doesn't collect or sell it. There are no user accounts, sign-ups, forms, comments, newsletters, or payments. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking pixels. Your data isn't sold to anyone or shared with anyone for marketing.

A few things do happen when you visit, as they do on any website. Each one is listed below.

The language cookie

The site sets one cookie of its own, called wsha-lang. Each language has its own addresses (Spanish pages start with /es/, for example). The cookie remembers the language you chose, so an address without a language in it takes you to your language. It holds only a language code (for example, “es” for Spanish) and lasts up to one year. The same value is also saved in your browser's localStorage.

If there's no cookie yet and you open an address without a language in it, the site reads your browser's Accept-Language header to choose one. Your browser sends that header to every website automatically. We use it to pick a language and don't store it.

The cookie isn't used to track you, it isn't read by anyone else, and the site works without it. Without it, links that carry a language still open in that language; an address without one opens in English or your browser's language.

Fonts from Google

The site's fonts load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). That means your browser contacts Google when a page loads, and Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy.

If you'd rather your browser didn't contact Google, a content blocker can stop the font requests. The site still works; it just falls back to your browser's own fonts.

Server logs

Like any website, the servers that host this site keep standard request logs: your IP address, the time, the page you asked for, and your browser. We don't use these logs to identify visitors.

Links to other sites

Almost every claim here links to an outside source, such as PubMed, a journal, or Our World in Data. Once you follow a link, you're on someone else's site, and their privacy practices apply. Because the site runs no analytics, we don't know which links you click.

Children

The site isn't aimed at children in particular. It collects nothing from anyone, children included. There's nothing to sign up for and no way to submit personal information, so there's nothing for a child, or anyone else, to hand over.

Deleting data and contacting us

The only thing this site stores is your language choice, in the cookie and in localStorage, both in your own browser. To remove it, clear cookies and site data for this site in your browser settings.

If you have a question about privacy, or want us to delete anything, email contact@stealthlaunch.com. If these practices change, this page will change with them, and the date at the top will show when.
